Uwe Zickel aka rivertree has been deeply rooted in the international Progressive Rock scene for many years – as a passionate listener, musical explorer and someone who has apparently decided that spending a considerable part of his life with songs occasionally longer than the average lunch break is perfectly reasonable.

As a long-time writer and Special Collaborator at ProgArchives, Uwe keeps a close eye on new releases, artists and developments throughout the international Prog scene. His interest goes far beyond the familiar names, with a particular enthusiasm for bands and projects flying somewhat below the musical radar – that increasingly rare territory where you can still discover something before an algorithm recommends it to you.

At Sound of Prog, Uwe has practically become part of the furniture – in the nicest possible sense, naturally. He is our longest-serving presenter and has produced and presented more shows for Sound of Prog than any other presenter. An impressive record suggesting either remarkable stamina, a slightly alarming music collection, or an exceptionally successful avoidance of other leisure activities.

With ProgEntry, Uwe essentially does what he enjoys most anyway: hunting down new music, discovering independent artists and bringing remarkable releases from across the Progressive Rock spectrum to the airwaves. In short: Prog connoisseur, musical treasure hunter, Sound of Prog veteran and firm opponent of the idea that radio should only play bands everybody already knows.

Uwe finds the musical gems so you don’t have to. And after all those shows, it’s probably fair to say he’s had plenty of time to look.
